September 2020. The world was on fire.
A global pandemic had upended everything. And in the middle of all that chaos, I hit record on what would become the first episode of the HOPE.dev podcast.
The topic? Hope.
Why H0P3?
You might have noticed the spelling: H0P3. Zeros instead of O's. A three instead of an E.
In the world of technology and coding, we use numbers to replace letters. H0P3 became my signature—a reminder that hope isn't just a feeling. It's something you can build, code, engineer into your life.
What Hope Really Is
Hope is not:
- Optimism (pretending everything is fine)
- Denial (ignoring problems)
- Passivity (waiting for things to change)
Hope IS active. It's the belief that your actions matter. That the future is not predetermined. That you have agency in your own story.
The HOPE.dev Mission
When I launched HOPE.dev, I had a simple mission: help people find their hope.
Not give them hope—that's not how it works. Hope can't be given. It has to be discovered, cultivated, chosen.
Start small. Find one thing to be hopeful about. One action you can take today.
That's how it starts. Welcome to H0P3.
